Huge Smile

Hey guys! I’m just super duper fantastically happy today. And have been the last couple of days. I’m not totally sure why, but I’m thinking maybe it’s because Glee is back?

Or because there was a pot luck at work yesterday where the main theme was carbohydrates (this girl likes her pasta). I brought a salad. It was the only veggie on the table ;) Balance is key, am I right?

Or maybe because it’s Friday?

Or … possibly because I had a kick ass day at work yesterday with an overwhelmingly positive evaluation from my manager? Like, awesome.

I don’t know the reason. But I know I LIKE IT. I’m outta here, with a huge smile on my face :) Enjoy your day and your weekend!

Hello there! Happy Wednesday! Before I get into things, I want to say a big thank you to everyone who commented on yesterday’s post. I really appreciate you guys giving me your thoughts. Mwah!

Alright. Time just flies, doesn’t it? I can’t believe it’s time for another What I Ate Wednesday.

Thanks Jenn for hosting this weekly partay! I’m loving the fitness aspect in this month’s theme.

Tuesday’s breakfast:

Work has been crazy and I wasn’t sure if I’d get a proper lunch break or not, so I wanted my first meal to be full of protein. Staying power! I put a grilled chicken breast and one egg (my last one … I never run out … I really, really need groceries!) in a whole wheat tortilla with hot sauce/cheese. Delicious. But I always feel weird when I eat chicken and eggs in the same meal. Isn’t that some sort of weird cannibalism? No, not cannibalism. It’s just strange. Not that I’ll ever stop doing it ;) Just a random thought I have whenever I eat that combo.

Tuesday’s lunch:

Lunch was weird. I had a peach, a Vega tropical tango smoothie (I didn’t add anything … and I also wasn’t expecting to be green!), and far too many pistachios. I can’t stop eating them. Not exactly a balanced meal, but I went with what I was craving. And I really need groceries, so I have limited resources.

Tuesday’s dinner:

I like to hide my veggies in pasta, so I steamed a bunch of cauliflower and mixed it with my whole wheat macaroni. I topped it with two pieces of chopped up turkey bacon, organic spaghetti sauce, and nutritional yeast. It really hit the spot!

As for fitness, yesterday I did back to back group classes. Classes aren’t usually my forte, I tend to just zone out in the gym by myself … but a friend of mine and I decided to go hard or go home last night. We went to an hour long yoga class and then a 45 minute spin right after. Whew! What a workout.

Enjoy your day! Make sure to check out some other WIAW’s … prepare to drool ;)

Savin’ Lives

In true superhero fashion, I saved some lives yesterday.

No, those are not my toes. They look like it though. I chewed all my fingernails off yesterday at work :(

It was my second time donating blood. I love the feeling (after I leave, not when there’s a needle sticking out of me). Have you ever donated blood?

I highly suggest it. You get snacks after.

I was lazy last night. Suuuuper lazy. A plate of rice pasta topped with two turkey muffins (I made Jamie Eason’s recipe earlier this week) was great comfort. I didn’t photograph it because I may have already been eating it before I even got to the table. Whoops. Saving lives will really work up an appetite. Then I decided that Jeff Probst was much better looking than whatever was sitting on my kitchen table, so I ate in the living room in front of the newest episode of Survivor. And yes, I’m aware I’m like the only person on the planet still watching that show. Once a fan, always a fan.

A plateful of pasta is one of the greatest comfort foods out there. Some other favorites of mine? Soup. Pancakes. My mom’s corn chowder. Anything with cheese.

Aaaaand now I’m hungry. What are some of your favorite comfort foods? You know, the kind you’d like to eat while wrapped up in a blanket on the couch in front of a movie while it rains outside. Let’s hear ‘em :)

In true sporadic/random/crazy posting fashion (I am all over the place today), I’d like to share a quote I stumbled upon the other day:

I’m not even completely sure where I found it (maybe Twitter?) but it kind of struck me, so I took a screen shot of it on my phone and saved it. I’m glad I did. I love the message.

When was the last time you read something or was told something that really stuck with you?

Enjoy today … IT’S ALMOST FRIDAY!
