Short, Sweet & Sick

Posted on

Hey y’all … it’s just going to be a short and sweet post today. I think I’ve come down with something.

Monday started the week off on a terrible tone. This is how it went:

1. I slept through (read: did NOT press snooze, legitimately slept through the entire song that plays on my alarm clock) and missed my morning workout
2. I went to put on my freshly washed pants before work … they were still wet.
3. During the afternoon, both of my coworkers and I got the same sore throat and aches within an hour. Eeeek!

So I’m spending a lot of time taking it easy. 95% of the posts I write are done the night before (including this one), and I need couch time. I have my Zumba instructor training this weekend, where I will pretty much be working out for 8 hours, so I need to be well by then. Plus I have floor hockey Thursday night with the guys from work, so I need to be rested up so I can kick some serious butt ;)

I’m terrifying out there on the floor, in my yoga pants and pretty pink tank top. Intimidating.

I’ve developed this habit where I find a picture/quote that I like on the internet, and take a screen shot of it on my iPhone. The collection has grown quite rapidly, I actually shocked myself when I flipped through my photo album yesterday. The motivating ones are some of my favorite, I like to look at them in the morning to encourage myself to get out of bed and head to the gym (when I actually hear the alarm clock, haha). But I’ll never turn down a funny E-Card. Here’s some of my favorites outta my (quickly growing) collection:

That last one is the lock screen on my phone :) It’s a nice reminder…

There’s a sneak peek into one of my strange hobbies. If you need me, I’ll be napping. Or preparing myself to feel well enough to watch The Biggest Loser finale tonight. Do you watch? Who do you think is going to win?

Ciao for now!

You Know…

You know you’ve really been missing working out when the alarm goes off at 6AM on a Monday and you practically fly out of bed with excitement.

You know you really went too hard, too fast when you have to cut your workout short by 20 minutes because those sprints you just did may lead you to throw up in front of everyone at the gym (I’ve never had that happen before, can’t say I liked it).

You know you want spring to arrive when you decide to wear a bright white spring jacket and flats when it’s zero degrees Celsius (that’s 32 degrees Fahrenheit).

You know it was probably stupid to see that it’s only zero degrees outside yet you choose to walk to work for the first time in months. Brrrr.

You know you have a problem when instead of checking your work email once you get to your desk, you automatically and mindless log right on to Pinterest.

You know that making plans to try out a new Thai restaurant on Friday will lead you to daydream at work about curry/have nightmares about losing your appetite/drool sporadically this entire week.

You know it was a productive Monday (minus the Pinterest incident) when you fall asleep (I’m talking “dead to the world” sleep) at precisely 5:40 that evening, and don’t wake up until someone texts you more than an hour later.

You know you have too many bottles of nail polish when you can paint every finger a different shade of green.

You know there’s hope for you yet when you turn on E! during your lunch break … and there’s an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians you’ve never watched before.

…But then you watch it, so maybe you are hopeless. ;)

Fill in the blank for me! You know….

Smoothie Supper

Happy Tuesday! As promised, I’m returning to my typical silly self today after yesterday’s post. Thank you to those who left your thoughts!

I know I’ve mentioned this the last two (maybe three?) Mondays … but seriously, the first day of the work week sucks. I didn’t ever used to be one of those people who hated Mondays or blamed things going wrong on the fact that it was a Monday. Actually, I detested those people. But now – I’m cursed.

It was just a frustrating day. Ugh. Then, just as I was wrapping up my work for the day, it hit me.

A sore throat. NO!!!

That meant I only had one option when it came to suppertime:

I needed some vitamin C, bro!

The bad boy was made with frozen berries, flax seed oil, three handfuls of spinach, and then I dumped in a whole shwack of Green Energy juice made by  Arthur’s Fresh Company (love all their stuff!)

Don't worry, this isn't all I ate :)

I topped it with bananas. Funny story (but not really), I used to hate bananas. Couldn’t eat them, I hated the smell. I didn’t even like banana flavored candy! Now I can’t get enough (of the fruit, still not sure how I feel about the candy). On two separate occasions last week, I ate two in the span of one day. What is happening to me?!

Now, three random thoughts that struck me while writing this that I would like to share with you now:

1. Smash is an amazing TV show. Do you watch it? Seriously, it’s so worth it. It’s on Monday nights, you should start watching it so we can discuss it on Tuesday mornings. It could be described as a grown up Glee :)

2. I’m going to see Hunger Games this weekend. Yes, I’m one of those people. Stop rolling your eyes. Team Peeta or Team Gale? PEETA!

3. I watched Bruce Almighty the other day on TV. What the heck happened to Jim Carrey? This is a very serious question, guys. He had so many great movies … Ace Ventura, Dumb & Dumber, Liar Liar. What happened to you Jim?!

I want to hear three random thoughts from you now. Aaaaaand GO!
