Happiness Today

Happiness today:

- The awesome support I received after publishing Tuesday’s post. I knew I would feel better after writing my thoughts out. That’s how I work. But I feel 700% better because of all of the wonderful things people said to me. I had smiles on the inside and outside.

- The earrings I’m wearing. My boyfriend got them for me for Christmas. Sorry … I’m going to take a brief second to tell you a vomit inducing story. And he’d be embarrassed, but we’ll just pretend this didn’t happen if anyone asks. I lost my favorite earrings a few months ago, and was pretty sad about it. He had a picture of me wearing them, took it with him to the jewelery store, and found a pair as close to the originals as he could. Except these ones are twice as beautiful. How wonderful is that?! There. Vomit story done. Sorry everyone.

(Also, I don’t have freaky spots on my cheek. Ignore those. I also do not have a tomato for a face. Thanks, iPhone.)

- Rise bars put a big time smile on my face. I had one for fuel before my spin class last night. De freaking licious. And when the ingredients are all pronounceable, I’m happy.

- Speaking of spin class, happiness today is dead legs. It’s been awhile since I’ve hopped on the stationary bike, and my body obviously knows that. It was yet again more cardio in my life, but it felt good to change my routine. I have that class every Wednesday from now until April wheeewwwwww.

- Isn’t this infinity scarf beautiful? My best friend made it for me. I refuse to take it off.

- Girls is back. So yeah, that’s awesome.

Happy Thursday! What’s making you happy today?

Go Hard or Go Home

Posted on

I’m a “go hard or go home” kind of person. I don’t do anything halfway. Work, hugging, napping, singing. I’m committed to the very end.

When I develop a love for something … I love the crap out of it until I can’t stand it anymore. This probably isn’t the healthiest habit.

My current addictions:

- Red lentils. Remember the dinner in yesterday’s WIAW post? I’ve had some sort of variation of it everyday this week (sometimes more than once). Lentils + quinoa is usually the base. Sometimes I add chicken. Sometimes I stir in a bunch of roasted red pepper hummus (the people at Sabra are actual geniuses, I swear). Sometimes it’s salsa. Maybe feta? Some shredded cheddar? Regardless of the combination, I can’t stop. Talk to me in January and I bet you won’t be able to force feed me those dang lentils.

- Cardio. I’ve really tried to up the amount of cardio I do. Thanks to my awesome Polar heart rate monitor, I know how long I’m “in the zone”, and I’ve been making a consistent effort to increase that time during each visit to the gym. I’m still doing just as much weight training … just wanna mix it up!

- Any book written by a female comedian. I recently read Mindy Kaling’s. I’ve read all of Chelsea Handler’s. Ellen. Tina Fey. The list goes on. I like collections of essays (Nora Ephron was the QUEEN). I’ve already made a list of five more books that I will quietly hint at for Christmas gifts ;)

- These breakfast bars. Awesome, awesome, awesome. Taste? Amazing. Ingredients? Simple. I tried the macadamia/pineapple kind last week. I’m hooked. I’ve got a stash at work!

Any new addictions in your life?

Also … what the crap is going on with my blog? Is it acting funky for anyone else? Or does my computer suck that much?

I’ve Fallen In Love

Posted on

Hey everyone! I hope your long weekend was fabulous. Mine. Rocked. Hard. I had a wonderful balance of relaxing, hanging out with friends, spending time with family, and kicking it by myself. I even got to spend a couple of hours dancing on Saturday night (and you know that’s one of my favorite things to do ;) ). A successful weekend, indeed!

I hope everyone heading back to school today is prepared! I was reminiscing last night over how much I loved the first day of school. Fancy clothes, a new class schedule, reuniting with friends … getting to use that first sheet of paper in my brand new binder :) I was a bona fide nerd.

Good luck to the students kicking off this school year and to the parents who will do thousands of hours of car pools, lunch making, and homework hassling over the next ten months!

*****

I’m in love.

A breathless, unconditional, boundless kind of love.

How did I live without this before?

Meet Patsy. She’s my new Polar FT4F.

I’ve never worked out with a heart rate monitor before. I’m so glad I decided to buy one (I’m not going to lie, it wasn’t cheap) for myself. I find I’m pushing myself harder in my workouts because I want my heart rate higher and at that level for a longer period of time.

Patsy is my homegirl (and yes, I named her).

Have you ever worked out with a heart rate monitor? Would you ever want to try it?
