Not only did I step away from Yellow Haired Girl over the last couple of weeks, I took a break from the gym too.
I used every excuse in the book to avoid tying up my running shoes.
Did I say I didn’t have enough time? Guilty.
Did I choose Christmas shopping over working out? Guilty.
Did I decide to nap instead of doing any sort of physical activity? Guilty.
You name the excuse … I used it. Whatever. I’m using the term guilty, but let’s be clear here. I don’t feel guilty. I’m still a healthy little clam, and I think it’s okay to take a break sometimes.
I will say, however, now that I’ve jumped back on the cardio/strength training train … I’m sore. All. The. Time. I can’t wash my hair because my arms hate me. Taking the stairs? Cruel and unusual punishment.
It feels good to have some DOMS action in my life. And to get the blood pumpin’ and the sweat pourin’ on a regular basis once again.
Here’s to a healthy start to 2013!

I hear you. I let my workouts slide a bit during the holidays- it happens. And now the gym is going to be a madhouse with all the new people that pop up after January 1!
It’s going to be a freaking gong show. I hope it cools down soon!
I’m guilty too. Thanks for an inspiring post though… it’s time for me to get back to the gym too!
You’re welcome
I’m here to help!
eh life happens, don’t be hard on yourself. just means your body is well rested and ready to kick some booty once again.
Life DOES happen
I hate that guilty feeling. Good for you for getting back on track!
Thanks love!
I love that you say you ARE guilty but that you don’t FEEL guilty. i’ve been the same way. Sometimes, I just need the break, and so I accept the excuses. It makes the DOMS that much more enjoyable when you jump back in
Happy new year!
How freaking great is DOMS?! Happy New Year to you too!
&& you know what, I’m sure your body was actually thanking you for the time off =)
