Oh, hello. Didn’t see you there
Happy Wednesday! It’s What I Ate Wednesday time (thanks Jenn!) and I’m so ready to drool over everyone’s posts. So. Ready.
(*cue today’s pictures that decided to hang out in the left column instead of going over to the centre of the post. UGH.*)
I love this month’s theme! This week’s post is a little bit all over the place, I couldn’t possibly remember to take photos everyday … but I think there are a few summer staples in there!
Pizza. That’s obviously a summer staple, right? I pulled out my countertop pizza maker and made this one with a whole wheat tortilla, organic tomato sauce, broccoli, corn, black beans, green peppers, and feta. Olives would have been the perfect addition … but I was out. Oh well! This was still delicious – and packed with nutrients!
Pita Pit shouldn’t be considered a staple, but eating outside during the summer certainly should be! I grabbed this 6″ whole wheat pita for lunch the other day and enjoyed it at a picnic table at work. In there: turkey, lettuce, onion, cucumbers, green olives, black olives, pineapple, alfalfa sprouts, mushrooms, tomatoes, feta cheese, and tzatziki. My friends always make fun of me because I get every vegetable available, and as a result, spill all over myself while I eat. This was no different.
Eggs aren’t a summer staple. For me, they’re a daily staple. Honestly. I’ve actually considered the fact that I could turn into a chicken one day. Here’s two poached eggs on some whole grain bread (I rarely use toast for poached eggs), sliced turkey breast and MacLaren’s Imperial Sharp Cheese (MY FAVORITE!).
A small bowl of various whole wheat pastas (aka the end of several bags), organic tomato sauce, and a grilled chicken breast. Not very summer staple-y. But still delicious.
And the creme de la creme of summer staples … I present frozen yogurt. I had a crappola day at work yesterday (involving falling down some stairs oh so ungracefully), and decided this was necessary. In there: Red Velvet/New York Cheesecake, strawberries, crumbled Coffee Crisp, chocolate chips, and maraschino cherries. It was an emotional eating fest. And I wanted it that way
Done! Oh, how I love Wednesdays. Can’t wait to check out some other WIAW posts later on today!
Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Yum !(; check out my WIW!;)
Drippy eggs are my favorite!
Your pizza looks awesome! Oh my goodness. The flavor combo sounds totally out of this world…I can’t wait to try it!
Wow, you’re pizza looks amazing!!
Eh, are you okay after your run?? I totally agree the best way to treat a not so good day is definitely a froyo run
Hahaha. It wasn’t even a run! I was checking my email on my phone while walking down some stairs … in my heels. #klutz
Poached egg on toast is one of my favourite things! Love it when the yolk is all runny and oozy!
Fro Yo is so good. My friends make fun of me for spilling too! But my issue is mainly due to co-ordination, and not so much the food, but I’m pretty sure the food factors into it a lot. Like, a lot, a lot.
Hey! Another blogger lacking in coordination – join the club! You read that I fell down some stairs yesterday, right?
I agree, froyo is a must have summer staple for me!
Your pizza looks amazing! We try to make “summer” pizzas with zucchini, tomatoes, and spinach from our garden. Can you ever go wrong with a homemade pizza?
NEVER! I love tomatoes on pizza!
Oh, I’ve never had frozen yoghurt but it looks great! Also, you just can’t beat poached eggs!
ha i love how you can’t even tell your pizza is pizza until you read the description because it’s loaded with so many toppings! just the way i like mine!
Bahahaha. Definitely couldn’t pick it up and eat it like a normal pizza. Fork was necessary.
Ahhh before I even knew what it was, I was drooling over that “pizza.” And then you went and called it a pizza… I need it now!
I love the combo of turkey and eggs. so tasty.
Ah! I always treat myself with froyo on a bad day. And I’m also known for falling down stairs.. Ouch. Those poached eggs look perfect, though! Yum!
I’m glad I’m not the only clumsy one around here!
Wow! I’ve never seen such a nutrient-packed pizza. Great summer staples! The eggs look especially delicious. Happy WIAW

Your food all looks so good! How do you get your poached eggs looking so perfect! Mine are always a sloppy disaster. haha
Love the perfectly poached eggs. Wish mine looked half as good.
I eat eggs every morning too. They keep me full longer than other breakfast items! And runny is my favorite way to eat them!
