*Warning: This post is incredibly sporadic*
I love Aaron Sorkin. Seriously. The guy is brilliant.
The West Wing? Yes, I’m a huge fan. My family owns all of the seasons on DVD. What an incredibly smart and witty show.
The Social Network? Duh. That movie blows my mind. I own it, and watch it regularly. Very clever.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip? I LOVED THAT SHOW. It got cancelled. It was still brilliant. I don’t care what people (ahem, critics) say.
And now, Sorkin has done it again. This time, it’s The Newsroom on HBO. After just two episodes, it has been picked up for a second season. I think that’s a pretty good indication that it’s dang good.
I work in television. I know what they’re talking about on this show. I thrive on the rushed nature of it all. It’s amazing. The terminology, the stories, the people … I. Can’t. Get. Enough.
Have you seen it?! I know many of you don’t have HBO (I learned that through my passionate Girls rants every week), but you should really find a way to watch it online or something. Trust me

Now for a complete change in direction. From television … to caffeine. I’m thinking about cutting coffee out of my life. Considering breaking up. Ending our relationship.
I really love caffeine. I lurve coffee. I find it necessary on some most days. But I think it’s toying with me. My anxiety skyrockets when I’ve been knocking back that stuff. The butterflies in my stomach zoom around ten times faster. My hands shake more (not good when you need to operate a videocamera!). I like tea, and I’ve tried it as a replacement for coffee since it has less caffeine. But I’m really only a recreational tea user. It doesn’t work to wake me up. I’d rather savour the flavour than rely on it for a caffeine fix. I don’t have coffee every day. But I have been experiencing some discomfort when I do indulge.
I usually get 8 hours of sleep. I don’t know if I can squeeze anymore into my life!
So, I’d like your suggestions! Does anyone else experience increased anxiety after having coffee? Maybe I should give tea another shot? Or cut it all out completely (but I love it so muchhhhhhhhh)? Tell me what you think!

oh gosh I give you credit. However, I know it is possible. Last year I went from drinking four cups a day plus lots of diet coke TO ZERO ABSOLUTELY ZERO caffeine. I did it for a good nine plus weeks. I just didn’t see it helping me so I kind of slowly introduced it back. Now, I drink less but I definitely drink it.
i think NOT having coffee would make me anxious. i am addicted with no plans to stop. but, my boyfriend has to really limit his coffee intake – i small cup – no more no less. maybe just keeping the amount in check would help?
I actually just became deeply invested in a love affair with coffee last summer. Before that, I only had eyes for tea. I usually only drink about half a cup- because-yes- the anxiety is off the charts even from the teeny bit! I love it so much too. Don’t go cold turkey! Maybe start with replacing one cup every few days with some tea? Or you could always use mocha flavored protein powder with black tea? I’ve heard about this as a good replacement, but don’t have personal experience.
I LOOOOOVE coffee. Part for the caffeine but I love waking up and it being part of my routine.
I definitely found my anxiety was a lot better when I cut out a certain amount of coffee. I used to have 3-5 cups a day, at any time of the day. Now I really try to just have one medium sized cup in the morning that I sip throughout the whole morning and that’s it! I find that with enough sleep I really don’t need more than that. I completely cut it out in the afternoon and evenings.
I saw a preview for Newsroom when I was watching True Blood or Girls and it looked really good!
I find if I have more than 2 cups a day my heart races. It kind of feels like anxiety, but not really bad anxiety. I love my coffee in the morning, I try to avoid it later in the day.
My hubby and I looved Southland (a cop show) and it got taken off Canadian t.v, but he found it online somehow and we’ve been catching up on it.
Personally, I had to cut off all caffeine from my life in the last 6 months because it was starting to cause intense anxiety and even panic attacks. I used to be able to drink caffeine like its nobody’s business, I’d be able to drink a cup of coffee (or two) and go to sleep. It had no effect. Now the effect is overwhelming. I recently started putting more caffeine in my life by drinking regular green tea (I’ve been drinking decaf). Less anxiety but still there a little bit.
Ah agreed!! I love The Newsroom and am already impatient for the next episodes to air. Sorkin does it again!
‘The Newsroom’ hasn’t started here (in Oz) yet, but I’m looking forward to it as I was a huge WW fan (and also have them on DVD and watched them many many times!). I saw a negative report on the new show recently so wondered what it was like.
