Hey everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I know I sure did … it was three days! I took Friday off, since I have accumulated so much overtime and had those hours to burn. And I thought I deserved it after the week I had.
Thursday night included celebrating a friend’s university graduation (she’s a nurse now!), and Friday afternoon included catching up with my best friend while she prepares for her upcoming wedding (I got my bridesmaid dress!).
Friday night was filled with a sushi dinner, cute boys (hey, I’m nothing but honest on here haha), and a going away party.
Saturday included an incredibly late sleep-in (I can’t remember the last time I woke up AT ELEVEN O’CLOCK) and an incredibly late night birthday celebration (including a 3AM patio pizza party, whoopsie).
I bummed around for most of yesterday, restarting my Dexter obsession and taking a nap.
It was a great weekend. Now I’m ready to take on the week … and this month! I can’t believe it’s JUNE already!
I’ve never been one of those people who makes a list of goals to accomplish. I always have a couple of things in mind that I’d like to get done … but I never write them down to hold myself accountable. I just commented on Heidi’s bucket list post the other day, saying I have the makings of a bucket list in my brain, but I’ve never written it down. I think know I would work harder to achieve goals if I wrote them down.
I’m starting small. That big bucket list will come. I’ve decided to set some goals for this month! Meg and Meredith are just two of my favorite bloggers who have inspired me to do this for the month
1) Try a new recipe. I’m in a rut when it comes to food. You’ve seen my WIAW posts!
My diet consists of a lot of overnight oats, chicken breasts/veggie combos, and turkey wraps. I love all of those things, but it would be nice to shake up my routine a little bit. I would like to try one new recipe … maybe I’ll get to one of the countless recipes I’ve favorited from blogs?!
2) Build up to running 5K on the treadmill. I don’t think I’ve mentioned it on the blog yet … but I’ve been trying to incorporate running into my cardio routine. I want to love running, and I’m slowly starting to really enjoy it! I love hearing the stories about people tackling races and achieving personal bests times. I think that’s a long ways away for me, but it’s a place I’d like to get to eventually. My distance has been getting farther and farther when I hit the treadmill. I’m going to hit 5K on the treadmill by the end of the month!
3) Have a wonderful 22nd birthday! I don’t think I’ll have too hard of a time reaching this goal
I have a great group of friends who will be celebrating with me in a couple of weeks, and even a friend or two coming in from out of town! I have a very special birthday this year, because it falls on the same date as Father’s Day. That’s also the day I was born, if you’re interested in learning a little bit more about me
I will hang out with friends on the night of the 16th (dinner and dancing are obviously in order … two of my favorite things!) and then I will spend time at my parent’s house on the actual day of my birthday/Father’s Day, June 17th. I can’t wait!
4) Continue going to evening spin classes. I really have been enjoying this, and it’s something I’d like to keep doing. Sometimes it’s tough to get there because I’m tired/grumpy after work, but I think it’d be best to channel that emotion into physical activity. When I go to spin classes at night, it’s often my second workout of the day. I will need to remind myself not to push it too hard, but it’s really nice to have that endorphin rush to start my day and end it.
I think four goals is a great start! I’m excited to work towards accomplishing these!
Do you set goals each month? How was your weekend?

I’m like you, I usually have lots of lists written in my brain, but I’d like to keep track of them better by actually writing them down! Glad you had such a fun weekend!
I think lots of people have the same issue we do. I hope this helps me out!
happy early birthday!
Thanks my dear!
Great goals! If you keep the list short enough, you can accomplish them and get excited to do it – not feel overwhelmed . . . I love setting goals but have been floundering lately b/c I didn’t have one to work toward. Just last night I came up w/a #6lbsdown challenge – 6 lbs. in 6 weeks – will push me further toward my goal of being the fittest I’ve ever been. We’ll see how it goes ’cause my body composition is already terrific – might not want to let more lbs. go, you know? But there’s no harm in trying, so long as your goals are safe. Cheers to you – let us know what recipe you try and how you like it!
What a GREAT goal! That’s going to be tough – but I absolutely love the idea. Can’t wait to hear how it goes!
Great goals, they are all accomplishable!
I definitely pretend I cook…maybe if you share your recipes I’ll try to actually cook too!
I will definitely share
I’ve been meaning to do a goal post the start of each month, but I always seem to forget! I do better when I’m held accountable for things. Cooking new things is something I have to work on- pinterest usually comes to my rescue:)
It seems like a lot of us have this cooking problem! I’m glad I’m not alone
I am so going to join you on that try a new recipe boat, I am in desperate need of switching things up!
Wahoo! I like it!
Our diets sound so much the same. Chicken breasts/veggies and turkey, lol. I need to switch up my recipes as well. I’ll probably piggyback on what you come up with if you blog about it and if they’re simple and QUICK for me.
The goals you’ve made will definitely keep you on your toes. Along with lists, it helps if I tell others about my goals. I don’t want to seem like a slacker to them, so it makes it easier for me to stick to my word. Good luck!
Simple and quick recipes are key for me too, girl. Piggyback away
Haha we all see hundreds of recipes a day, and yet we all can end up in food ruts. I’m guilty, as well!
It’s amazing how many of us are in the same boat!
Haha YEP! Overload from blogs, pinterest, twitter, oh my!
Love your goals!
)
If I don’t set goals or expectations for myself I go crazy. I love my to-do lists (especially when I put super easy things on it to cross out and feel more accomplished
Confession: occasionally I will add something to the bottom of my to-do list that I’ve already done, just so I can still feel the satisfaction of crossing it off
I love settings goals! I am so happy you did too, lovely <3 Thanks for the shout out by the way xoxo you make me so happy hun <3
FANTASTIC goals !!!! Thanks for the shout out–always glad to spread the goal-setting mentality. Tomorrow is National Running Day (runningday.org), so good excuse to get out there. You’ll be at a 5k by the end of the month
Happy almost birthday, Miss Yellow Haired Girl! I really love the try a new recipe goal, too. That’s something I need to do more OFTEN. I have SO SO many that I want to try, it’s almost overwhelming, but whenever I do, it’s SO fun and delicious. You’d better share any great new recipe finds with us!
