Hello all
I wanted to give a quick weekend recap before I jump into today’s post. Several of you wanted to know how the butter chicken poutine was on Friday night. I’m sorry to say, I never had it
My friend and I dropped by the restaurant at 7pm and were told it was an hour and a half wait! That was incredibly disappointing. I was a complete starvin’ marvin’ and there was no way I was going to be able to last that long. It was college graduation in the city on Friday, from what I hear it was incredibly tough to get into a lot of restaurants. We ended up a cafe that was very good, though. I had been there a few times before, and I knew it wouldn’t disappoint.
I have still have my sights set on that butter chicken poutine though! I must have it.
After dinner on Friday, I was busy cleaning my apartment … I even scrubbed the inside of my shower!! Who says I don’t know how to party on the weekends?
I love showering in a freshly cleaned tub. I know I’m not alone there.
I had a serious workout Saturday morning. A hilly 10 mile bike ride, biceps/triceps/shoulders, and then headed home to do Bob Harper’s 15 Minute Yoga Abs (which I have a very strong love/hate relationship with … huuuuuuuurts). It felt good to get a big sweat session in. Then after spending some time working on Saturday afternoon, I stopped by a friend’s house to help him organize his freshly moved furniture and clothing. Remember the pickle challenge? It didn’t happen. But I still feel like I could have made Snooki proud. After helping him hang up his clothing (apparently he wears nothing but blue or brown), a girlfriend of mine and I camped out on my balcony armed with sangria, wings, hummus, sangria, cheese, pita chips, sangria, and more sangria. After knocking back a fair amount of that, we got all prettied up and headed to the nearest club to dance our butts off. My legs were actually sore yesterday.
….which meant I spent a lot of the day listening to Bethany Joy Lenz/napping/watching The Parent Trap (of which I know every line).
*****
I think it’s pretty clear that I’m a big TV watcher. Actually, my coworkers have mentioned several times how astounding it is that I watch the amount of shows I do, maintain a healthy lifestyle, have a social life, and get 8 hours of sleep every night. To be honest, I’m not quite sure how I do it either.
In addition to being a televisionaholic, I’m a pretty big bookworm. This is my nightstand:
For today’s post, I’ve decided to share my latest book/TV/music loves. Then I’m going to want to hear what your current loves are, too. I love trying out new music genres and watching new episodes of stuff online. So, please share
Latest book obsession:
I’m definitely a Nora Roberts fan, and this is her newest book. Funny story – I gave it to my mom for Christmas and my parents also gave it to me for Christmas. The story involves the Montgomery brothers, who are refurbishing a historic hotel in BoonsBoro, Maryland. This particular novel (book one of a trilogy) focuses on Beckett Montgomery. There’s a romance involved. There’s a ghost living in the hotel. There’s more cheesy romantic references (each room in the inn is named after a famous couple). I’m loving it so far! I enjoy the way Nora Roberts builds her stories. I know that the other two books will be based on the other brothers, just like in the Bride Quarter (I LOVED that series).
Latest music obsession:
I’m going to be honest, I fell in love with Gavin DeGraw’s newest album after seeing him perform on the One Tree Hill series finale. Listen to “Soldier”. You won’t be disappointed. Where I work, we take turns playing songs on YouTube all day long (we’re pretty fun, I know), and my coworker and I joke that 20, 000 of the 1.1 million views of “Solider” came from us. That’s probably not far from the truth
Latest TV obsession:
Funny. Smart. Inappropriate. Funny (again). I love 2 Broke Girls. Have you been watching? It’s really nice to see a show on TV that features smart (and HILARIOUS) women. It’s amazing. Kat Dennings does a fabulous job (can you say sassy?!), and Whitney Cummings is a creator. That spells winning right there. I highly recommend it. It’s great for a Monday night giggle belly laugh.
What are you reading? Watching? Listening to? Share your current faves

I’m reading True Colors by Kristin Hannah… Soooo good! And although I really really love showering in a clean shower, I really really hate being the one to clean it. I’ve convinced my husband that he is exceptional at this job, so he usually takes care of it. Muahaha.
Nice! I have no one to pawn if off on. So it doesn’t happen very often
i am a horrible tv watcher. i just flip between bravo, hgtv, food network, and the like. although i recently started watching the entire series of keeping up with the kardashians on netflix. what can i say? im classy like that…
I’m just as classy. I’ve seen every episode. #sorryimnotsorry
Ahh I love Bob Harper, how have I not heard of his workouts before? I’ve been spending too much time with Jillian!
Summer Sisters!!! That’s a book I passed around with so many of my friends a few summers ago
I need a good book! I’m watching way too much tv: Game of Thrones, Breakout Kings, vampire Diaries, etc. I’m loving Gotye and anything with dubstep or avicci levels (for working out).
I’ve been spending time with Jillian too! I’ve been alternating between her Yoga Meltdown DVD and Bob’s Yoga Warrior DVD. I recommend!
My best friend and I did a big book swap when I went to visit her a few months ago, and she was adamant that I borrow that one. It’s her favorite … and I can see why! I really liked it. It’s nice that I can continue to read Judy Blume even as an adult. I loved her books when I was growing up too
I love books too! I have a post on my blog listing all the books Ive read so far this year. 2 BROKE GIRLS is super funny! Have u ever watched modern family or the middle?
I LOVE Modern Family. Sometimes, one needs a little bit of Phil Dunphy to get through the week.
Damn I was pretty curious about the pickle challenge too… Just because it’s so random haha.
I love that you like to read – I’m a book lover myself and I can’t wait this week (finals) to be over so I can start reading for fun again. I haven’t read any Nora Roberts books but maybe I’ll give her a try.
Haha! I actually thought about you when I was writing the post … I kind of wanted to chow down, too
So yeah, I love books too. I’ve never read Nora Roberts tho I know she’s super popular. I’m reading Roger Ebert’s autobiography “Life Itself”. It’s great so far, and I’ve always been a fan of his.
<33 Bethany Joy. Did you know her last name is Galeotti now? Unless she got divorced and you knew that and I didn't?! Haha
I like Gavin too, I need to get his new CD even though it's not even new now.
My sister used to say Parent Trap was her fave movie because her bday is 10/11 and I'm sure you remember that the "twins'" bdays are 10/11 in the movie. I can't believe that "back then", Oreos with PB was considered a weird snack. Is it just me or would the blog world go crazy for those?! The Lohan "twins" were pioneers before the blog world time.
Yes, yes Bethany Joy is definitely a Galeotti. I think she maybe just had a baby too? I spaced on her last name.
Bloggers would go cray cray over Oreos + PB. Also, why have I never tried that combo?! The Lohan (‘s) knew what was up.
I’m just finishing a book called “Gods of Gotham” and tomorrow will be picking up the second book in the Divergent trilogy (I like to switch up my genres; too much adult fiction can be a downer, so I like to throw in some teen fantasy every now and then). I don’t watch a ton of TV but I spent a good chunk of my weekend catching up on Game of Thrones season 2… and I haven’t checked out any new CDs lately, so I’ve basically been listening to the same ten songs on Top 40 radio over and over again.
I that “Parent Trap” movie, too!
I dont know all the lines though.
