I’ve read countless articles on why it’s not always wise to eat in front of the TV. I don’t follow that rule very often. But over the last few days, I’ve been especially rebellious … all for Dexter.

A friend of mine had been talking for weeks about how much she loves this dang show. Like, she brought it up everyday. She wanted asked forced me to borrow the first two seasons on DVD from her, so I started watching on Sunday. I’M HOOKED. I’ve been eating every meal while sitting on my couch, so I can soak up all of the creepy, forensic magic. It’s nothing like I have ever watched in my life (I’m a hardcore fan of all things Gossip Girl and Grey’s Anatomy). I’m only on the first season, too! Two thumbs up. Do you watch it?
Anyway, 99% of the eats featured in this week’s What I Ate Wednesday post were inhaled in front of episodes of the television drama.

As always, a big ”thanks, love!” to Jenn over at Peas and Crayons for hosting the weekly party
I’ve been all about honey lately. This week, I drizzled it on a whole wheat bagel thin topped with crunchy peanut butter, a sliced banana, and chia seeds.
This wouldn’t be a WIAW post without overnight oats, right?! I made a bowl this week with regular oats, flax seed oil, chia seeds, strawberry Greek yogurt, PVL strawberry banana whey powder, and acai berry juice. I topped it with a random mix – some dried cranberries, golden raisins, peanuts … I think there was cashew pieces in there too, maybe? I can’t remember. But I do know it was delicious, pink, and filling!
Another menu item this week? An egg white scramble featuring ground turkey, red onion, spinach and (lots!) of green pepper. I topped it with cheese and a pretty little drizzle of sriracha.
I made lentil soup in my slow cooker on Sunday (I’ll share the recipe next week!), and decided to pair it with brown long grain rice one night this week … making it kind of like jambalaya. So much comfort in such a little bowl
Can you tell cheese was on my latest grocery list? I realized I hadn’t bought it in months (I’ve started using a lot of nutritional yeast), but I developed a craving for it last week so I bought a bag of shredded goodness. I’ll be adding it sporadically to dishes until it’s all used up.
Mmmmmmm, cheese.
Thanks again to Jenn for the fabulous What I Ate Wednesday party. See you tomorrow, I’m off to drool over look at some other WIAW’s!

Wow, all of these pics are so scrumptious. Especially the egg white scramble with that drizzle? Ohhh mama.
I feel like it TASTED better just because it looked like that…
I just ate lunch and I’m still drooling at all your food.
Hahaha! Love that!
I also love Dexter, though it’s on Pay television which I don’t have… so I rely on the DVDs when they come out.
Deb
I seriously can’t get enough of it. I’m relying on the the DVDs right now too!
Yum, everything looks so good esp your lentil soup!
Thanks! It was delicious, I can’t even lie…
Everything is better with sriracha sauce! Yum…
Great philosophy!
you can’t beat a sriracha drizzle!
You most certainly can’t
Wow what a delicious day of eats! I always say, everything is better with sriracha! The more the better! I also made a batch of lentil soup this week, and your picture is making me excited to dig in for lunch!
Oooh I’m glad I got you amped for lunch
I hope you enjoyed it!
What a great day of eats lady! Everything is better with that kind of sauce if you ask me
That seems to be a popular opinion – and I’m totally with you on it!
So many of my friends have told me to watch Dexter. I still haven’t but maybe I’ll give it a try next rainy day!
I think cheese is my favorite food in the entire world and I have a hard time thinking that anything could replace it or make me crave it less. However, I am so curious to try nutritional yeast!
You HAVE to try watching it! Have to!
I’ve never watched Dexter but I might just have to give it a shot! Eating dinner is one of my favorite things to do… I always feel like im breaking the rules!
I know, it’s pathetic and my husband hates it, so
I’m only able to convince him once or twice a week.
And I meant to say eating dinner infront of the TV. Haha although eating dinner in general is pretty enjoyable too!
Hahahaha it definitely is pretty enjoyable
I am a huge Dexter fan! I have watched every season. Like any show, some seasons are better but wait until the season 6 finally! I don’t know how much longer I can take for the Sept 30 season 7 premiere! The show really has a lot of unexpected events!
This is what people keep telling me! I can’t WAIT! I love the random surprises. I’m glad I’m borrowing it on DVD so I don’t have to be in agony over the cliffhanger at the end of each season … I can just put the next disc in
i’m the worst at eating while watching tv! it’s multi tasking at it’s best
i am going to start watching dexter very very soon! i just got netflix to watch it. glad to hear you like it!
Let me know what you think of it! I’d love to hash it out with you when you start watching!
english muffin with banana is one of my fave breakfasts ever! i haven’t had it in awhile because i like to sit and enjoy it and usually i’m eating as i run out the door in the mornings.
I’m almost always running out the door, usually it’s a breakfast wrap for me. I downed this in front of the TV. Can’t beat that combination!
I hadn’t thought of adding chia on my english muffin with banana and almond butter breakfast. Thanks for the idea!
[Fitness, Health and Happiness]
It’s a great addition! I like the crunch
thanks for stopping by my blog!
I love peanut butter, banana and chia seeds.
I usually eat mine with Greek yogurt (plain).
Yes! I do that too. I’ll melt the PB so I can mix it in really nice. If you throw in a handful of carob chips, it’s double trouble
yum!
Definitely looks like comfort in a bowl! Yum!
so are the thins as satisfying as regular bagels? Have yet to try them. Your thins sounds delicious!
I LOVE Dexter! And it even gets better and better with every season! Just wait
AHHHHH people keep telling me that! Can’t. Watch. Fast. Enough.
Holy COW Look at tthat scramble! THat’s a work of art.
Also the sliced bananas with chia on (English muffin for me), and on apple butter. One of my favorites!
